Valley Stream’s United Community Party

Valley Stream Mayor Edwin A. Fare is a lifelong Valley Streamer, enjoying all of his 60+ years within the Incorporated Village.  He, along with his five brothers, was raised here by parents who instilled in their boys all the values of a tight-knit small-town community.  Mayor Fare chose to raise his own family in Valley Stream and is the proud father of three children, Samantha, Jessica and Andrew. Dermond Thomas is currently serving in his third term as a Trustee in the Village of Valley Stream.  He is a corporate lawyer and received his JD from Columbia Law School.  Mr. Thomas also holds a BA in Economics from Amherst College, a JD from Columbia Law School and Executive Education Certificates from Harvard Law School and the Wharton School.  Read more about Trustee Thomas


Kevin is currently an insurance claims analyst and holds a BA in English from C.U.N.Y Hunter and a JD from Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University. Before entering law school, Kevin taught in Middle School and High School for 11 years. Husband and father of two children, a Boy Scout and Girl Scout, Kevin currently serves as a School Board Trustee of Holy Name of Mary School and has served as the school’s Middle School Basketball Coach since 2014. Kevin has also served as the Chairman of the Valley Stream Beautification Committee since 2021.

Village Justice Melanie A. Jenkins is a resident of Valley Stream with her husband and several rescue cats for 19 years. She is currently Principal Law Clerk to the Hon. William J. O’Brien, Acting Supreme Court and County Court Judge in Nassau County Court. She is an experienced litigation attorney and corporate counsel with diverse advisory, government relations and management experience and received her JD from SUNY Buffalo Law School. She earned her BA in Political Science and International Studies from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. She currently sits on the Board of Directors of Valley Stream’s Friends of Bridge drug/alcohol treatment agency and volunteers with several cat rescue groups. She and her husband are classic car enthusiasts and often enjoy attending the Valley Stream Summer Car Shows. Prior to serving as Village Justice, she was Associate Village Justice for six years and a Village Prosecutor for four years.

Candidate Biographies

Trustee John Tufarelli is a resident of Valley Stream over 40 years. Father, homeowner and owner of a small business in Valley Stream for over two decades. John is currently the Executive Director of Nassau Regional OTB. He is a former youth baseball coach, president of the Valley Stream Mail League, and board member of the Blessed Sacrament Athletic Association. John is a founder of the Valley Stream Taxpayers Association and Village Trustee since 2008


Deputy Mayor Sean Wright is a law secretary to Nassau County Criminal Court System. Husband, father and Valley Stream homeowner, Sean is a former assistant youth football coach for the Valley Stream Green Hornets and former Treasurer to Friends of Bridge. Sean has served as a Village prosecutor from 2008 to 2015, and as a Town prosecutor from 2011 to 2015. Sean has been a Village Trustee since 2016 and is a current member of TVASNAC: Town-Village Aircraft Safety and Noise Abatement Committee.
